ADMISSION
PROCEDURES
Admissions criteria are inseparably linked with the
ultimate purpose of a school. International Bible Center
desires to admit students whose character, motivation
and abilities are in accord with its program. IBC seeks
men and women whose primary aim in life is to glorify
the Lord and to proclaim the Good News.
ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
Evaluation of the application particularly centers in
the following four areas:
SPIRITUAL
All applicants must give evidence of approved Christian
character and an established commitment to the ways of
the Lord. Inasmuch as Christian standard violations are
not consistent with the Christian life and testimony, it
is expected that a person shall have lived apart from
such things for at least six months preceding the
semester in which he/she wishes to enroll.
The reference forms submitted by a pastor and Christian
associates on behalf of a student are used to assess the
prospective student’s life and testimony. These
reference forms and the “Journey of Faith” form will be
found at the back of this catalog.
ACADEMIC
Applicants should have sufficient educational background to
enable them to perform at this level. A high school diploma
or document evidencing equivalent education is required for
admission into all programs.
A limited number of applicants who cannot otherwise meet the
above academic entrance requirements may be admitted on
individual approval. Acceptance of such students is limited
to 5 percent of enrollment. These students must fulfill the
academic requirement and eliminate the academic deficiency
before any diploma or other recognition will be granted. All
students will be required to take an English Placement Exam
during registration to determine their preparation for IBC
studies. An exam will be administered to newly enrolled
students to access their computer competency. Students
deemed scoring too low will be required to take GS 003
Computer Science.
Transfer students will be subject to all admission
requirements of the school and are expected to be in good
standing and eligible for re-enrollment at the last school
attended.

FINANCIAL
Applicants will be evaluated with regard to their financial
situation and current responsibilities. Students wishing to
apply for financial aid must file the proper forms with the
Registrar no later than three weeks before enrollment.
Financial Aid Application forms are available in the
admissions office upon request.
PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL
The program demands stamina and maturity of the student.
Health is an important factor in being able to maintain
attendance, earn satisfactory grades, participate in school
activities, pursue employment and make other adjustments.
Students with chronic conditions or severe physical
disablements should contact the Admissions Office for
consultation and advisement about admission to International
Bible Center.
APPLICATION
The
Application for Admission may be downloaded here. The
application and non-refundable $25.00 application fee must
be sent to the Admissions Office no later than three weeks
before the beginning of the semester.
The Admissions Office will contact the applicant regarding
the applicant’s status.
INTERNATIONAL
STUDENTS
International Bible Center is authorized to enroll
non-immigrant alien students. In keeping with guidelines set
forth by the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service, IBC requires international students to complete the
same admissions process as any other student.
In addition, international students are required to supply
the following:
1. Documentation of proven English proficiency for any
applicant whose secondary preparation has been in a school
where English is not the principal language of instruction.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores may be
submitted to the Admissions Office, or verification from a
U.S. pastor or missionary, stating that the applicant is
proficient in the English language. At least one of these
documents is required for admission.
2. Documentation of sufficient financial resources for the
duration of the planned program of study. Submit the
Confidential Financial Statement certifying your personal
funds and/or Financial Certification forms for all financial
sponsors.
According to U.S. law, international students may not accept
off-campus employment or receive payment for services
rendered for the first 12 months of residency in the United
States; therefore, they must come prepared to pay full
tuition, fees and living costs. International students may
apply for on-campus employment to help defray tuition costs.
3. Secondary school records verifying an education
equivalent to that of a U.S. high school education. If the
original documents are not in English, an English
translation must be furnished.
4. Records from any college or university previously
attended which are not in English. An official English
translation must be included.
International students should allow a minimum of four months
for the completion of files and subsequent review by an
Admissions Officer.
When the entire file is complete, an Admissions Officer will
review it. Upon approval for acceptance in IBC, a “Letter of
Acceptance” and an I-20 Form will be sent to the applicant.
To maintain approved status, international students must
maintain 12 units per semester and a satisfactory GPA.

REGISTRATION PROCESS
The registration process enrolls the student for the courses
to be studied and will occur when the semester begins. See
the current academic calendar for specific dates of
registration.
At registration, the cost for tuition, books, fees and room
and board (if applicable) will be figured and considered due
(a guideline to approximate the costs is found on page 14 of
the catalog). The student also will be required to submit
the signature page from the Student Handbook which indicates
his/her acceptance of the rules at IBC. The student will
receive the Student Handbook during the inaugural
chapel/orientation at the beginning of the semester or can
be viewed here in the box on the right under “Academic
Concentrations.” Additional required forms will be issued
and explained at the time of registration.
GENERAL POLICIES
POLICY OF NON-DISCRIMINATION
It is the IBC admissions and hiring policy not to
discriminate on the basis of race, age, sex, national or
ethnic origin.
TRANSFER OF CREDIT
Through the process of transcript analysis, academic
counseling and by following the procedure described herein,
the Academic Department will determine the number of credits
that can be brought into the program from previous studies
which are comparable with IBC course offerings.
Academic work accomplished at accredited institutions is
normally accepted on a one-for-one basis. The student should
request that an original transcript (not a copy) be sent to
the Registrar at International Bible Center. All credits
will be evaluated by the IBC Academic Department and
accepted credits will be placed onto the student’s permanent
record card. Only coursework with a grade of “C” or higher
will be eligible for transfer. No unaccredited academic work
will be credited until the student demonstrates ability to
do the academic work at IBC.
Transfer students will be subject to all admissions
requirements of IBC. Credits from recognized institutions of
higher learning will be required on all transfer work and
this will be validated by satisfactory work in advanced
courses.
Transfer students are expected to be in good standing and
eligible to re-enroll in the last school attended. An
official transcript of all college work done by the student
should be submitted to the Registrar’s office before
enrollment.
STUDENT RECORDS
Pursuant to the provisions of the Family Rights and Privacy
Act of 1974, students are advised that IBC construes the
following information to be directory information: the
student’s name, campus and home address, classification,
telephone listing, date and place of birth, major and minor
fields of study, class schedule, participation in school
activities, degrees/diplomas, any awards or honors received,
previous schools attended, dates of attendance, church or
denominational preference, parent’s name and address, and
physical measurements and attributes for members of sports
teams.
By designating the preceding information as directory
information, it may be released to third parties. Such
information is contained specifically in school directories,
yearbooks, in the business office, and in student files.
Photographs also are considered by IBC to be directory
information and, as such, photographs may be released.
Students may request that directory information not be
released to third parties. To make such a request, submit a
signed and dated written statement to the Registrar.
Otherwise, all photographs and the information listed above
will be considered as directory information according to
federal law. Non-directory information, notably grade
records, is released to third parties only on written
request of the student.
TRANSCRIPTS
A transcript of credits earned at IBC will be released for a
student only by written request. No transcript will be
released to either the student or on behalf of the student
if the financial account with IBC is not paid in full. The
joint obligations of married students must be paid before
diplomas, degrees or transcripts of either spouse will be
released.
The first transcript will be released free of charge. A
$5.00 fee will be due for each additional transcript. Send
written requests for transcripts and the necessary fees to:
International Bible Center, IBC, 2369 Benrus Blvd., San
Antonio, TX 78228, Phone 1-800-IBC-5084.
